Mike Johnson, Ph.D.

Dr. Johnson managed Azkarra’s research activities since its beginning, and he joined the company as VP of Chemistry in November 2021. Before joining Azkarra, Dr. Johnson worked as a medicinal chemist in small molecule drug discovery research for 23 years at the biotech/pharma companies Tularik and Amgen and at the CRO Chempartner. He has extensive experience as a contributor and a team leader on programs that delivered seven INDs for oncology, inflammation and cardiovascular therapeutic areas. Dr. Johnson is a co-inventor on eighteen patent applications and a co-author on twenty-six peer-reviewed publications.
